OSF St. Mary Medical Center, a state-of-the-art 99 bed acute care hospital, has been dedicated to providing the very best for each and every patient and family member who chooses OSF St. Mary for their care. Founded in our mission, the history of OSF St. Mary in our community is marked by our three locations in Galesburg, Illinois since 1909.
OSF St. Mary Medical Center serves a seven county area in west central Illinois including Knox, Warren, Henry, Mercer, Henderson, McDonough and Fulton counties. Since we first opened our doors, our mission has been to provide patient-focused care that exemplifies individuality and hospitality for all we serve.
100th Anniversary
The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis purchased a Galesburg home in January of 1909 and established St. Mary’s Hospital. The first patient was seen in September and 97 surgeries were performed during the first year. St. Mary’s Hospital eventually grew and the need for more space prompted the first of many additions in 1914. In 1974, ground was broken for the current medical campus on Seminary Street.

OSF St. Mary Medical Center offers the latest in digital screening technology. One of the first in our area to offer such technology, a digital mammogram is the fastest and most accurate method available today for detecting even the smallest tumors that could be the early signs of breast cancer.
