Emergency Department
Emergency Department
OSF St. Mary Medical Center completed the expansion of its Emergency Department in 2006 which included the addition of eleven private treatment rooms, two dedicated trauma rooms and a decontamination screening area. A new waiting area, an easily accessible front entrance to the Emergency Department and a separate entrance for ambulance arrivals also were included in the project. With the ED expansion, OSF St. Mary also installed a new helicopter pad to make room for the new structure.
Designated by the Illinois Department of Public Health, OSF St. Mary Medical Center's Emergency Department is a Level II Trauma Center and an Advanced Pediatric Center. The emergency department is a 13 bed facility, staffed 24 hours a day. We have 8 on staff physicians and the ED is staffed by specially trained nurse practitioners, nurses and assistants. Our physicians and professional staff are prepared to handle serious emergencies on site, and advanced emergency care is available via Life Flight helicopter or local ambulance to our sister hospital, the Level I Trauma Center at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
