Sleep Lab Gets An Upgrade

OSF St. Mary Medical Center has a new, state-of-the art Sleep Lab. The Sleep Lab was once housed on the third floor of the medical center, in regular patient rooms. The new Sleep Lab is located on the hospitals ground level, allowing for a permanent location for the Sleep Lab which now consists of two private bedrooms, a restroom and a tech room.

"We recently received a new computer system for the Sleep Lab," says Steven Clark, Registered Sleep Technologist, "and with the development of a new lab, we can provide state of the art testing for our patients."

"Since the new sleep lab is located on the hospitals ground floor, the sleeping rooms have no windows, providing a pitch black environment that should provide better sleeping conditions for patients," says Clark. Each patient room has also been decorated by an interior designer to offer a more comfortable, home like atmosphere.

The staff at St. Mary contributed to the construction of the new Sleep Lab by donating $99,000 to a Foundation organized employee campaign.
