Breast Cancer Support Group
When fighting breast cancer, it helps to know that you are not in it alone. Connecting with others can help inspire you and help you cope. The OSF St. Mary Medical Center Breast Cancer Support Group is dedicated to providing a safe place where individuals can express their feelings, fears and anxieties while offering a time to share experiences, strengths and hopes. We provide individuals coping with cancer and undergoing treatment with networking and educational opportunities. Through our faith in caring for each other, we will achieve a positive difference in the lives we touch.
If you or someone you know is coping with breast cancer, come meet with others going through the same thing. The Breast Cancer Support Group at OSF St. Mary can make a difference. Share your feelings with other women who have had similar experiences; the laughter and the tears. Connect with someone who's been there. Find the joy that was never lost. Stay in touch for a lifetime.
The OSF St. Mary Medical Center Breast Cancer Support Group is designed to help individuals who:
- Are about to undergo surgery or treatment.
- Are already in treatment.
- Have completed treatment.
- Are needing support from others with breast cancer.
- Are wishing to support others with breast cancer.
Schedule and Discussion Topics
The OSF St. Mary Medical Center Breast Cancer Support Group meets monthly on the second Monday. During that time, guest speakers provide an educational forum and the opportunity for members to interact with experts in the various fields relating to breast cancer. Topics are scheduled throughout the year and constitute fields of interest that the members themselves have requested such as reconstructive surgery; radiation, chemo and physical therapies; lymphedema, depression and nutrition. Also included are the life style topics of sexuality, macrobiotics and cosmetology; spousal, family and workplace relationships.
